Types Of Treatment
Water Softeners
Remove dissolved minerals that damage your appliances, leave build-up, dry out your hair and skin, and waste soap. They “soften” the water by removing calcium and magnesium ions, extending the useful life of water heaters, coffeemakers, humidifiers and household plumbing by as much as 30%. Water Softeners reduce hardness, and can reduce elevated levels of iron, manganese, lead, and Radium.
Anion Water Softeners
Operate on the same principle as a traditional water softener, except with an oppositely charged resin bed. Anion water softeners are useful for reducing specific contaminants such as Nitrates, Uranium, and even high pH.
pH Neutralizers
Are intended to raise low pH water to acceptable standards. Low pH water can cause corrosion and pinhole leaks in plumbing systems over time. The water passes through a tank filled with Calcite (a naturally occurring Calcium Carbonate). Upon contact with Calcite, acidic waters slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate to raise the pH which reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead and other metals found in typical plumbing systems.
Reverse
Passes your water through a semipermeable membrane which separates the water at the molecular level. The membrane acts like a filter to isolate contaminants, reducing them so that the water becomes purer, with substantially reduced dissolved solids and contaminants*. This cleaner, purer, refined water is then stored in a holding tank, ready at your convenience. Reverse Osmosis can reduce: Arsenic V, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium III, Chromium VI, Copper, Cyst, Fluoride, Lead, Nitrate, Nitrite, Radium 226/228, Selenium and Total Dissolved Solids.
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)
Systems are used to absorb chemicals, chlorine, bad taste or low levels of radon from your water. The water simply passes through a filter tank filled with Coconut Shell Activated Carbon which reduces the contaminant levels.
Arsenic Reduction Systems
Point-of-Entry (or “Whole House”) Arsenic adsorption treatment system will reduce both species of Arsenic (Arsenic III and Arsenic V) in your drinking water.
Ultraviolet Water Purification
Is a unique and rapid method of water disinfection without the use of heat or chemicals and does not alter the taste of the water. The water enters the purifier and any bacteria in the water are exposed to UV light from the germicidal UV lamp. Water leaving the purifier is instantly ready for use.
Radon in Water Removal: Bubble Up Systems
If the radon in water levels are above 4,000 pCi/L, an Aeration system is needed. Aeration has a high radon in water reduction rate, typically 98-99%. As the water is aerated, radon is bubbled up and is vented to the outside of the house above the roofline. A built-in pump then automatically delivers the clean, radon free water to your home.
Iron Breaker and Sulfur Breaker
Systems use natural oxidation to remove sulfur or iron from your water supply, for moderate problems of bad odor and eliminates the need for a more expensive chlorine feed (chlorination) system. The Ironbreaker III stores a “bubble” of air, compressed by your well pressure, within the media tank. As your water passes thru the air, the iron or sulfur is converted to a particle which is then trapped by the catalytic filter media in the tank while the air “bubble” is gradually consumed by the passing water.
Chlorination Systems
Add chlorine solution (from a solution tank) to the water via a chemical feed pump. The chlorine solution and water will mix in the retention (holding) tank. After the contact time, the water goes through the other filter(s) (Greensand and/or Carbon) to remove the chlorine. Additional filters may be installed after to remove residual minerals. The chlorination system can be modified with soda ash to also treat low pH. Chlorination systems are generally more expensive and maintenance intensive than other treatments, but have to ability to treat a broad range of contaminants such as: bacteria, iron, lead, manganese, low pH, and Arsenic.
Scale Prep’s SP3
Catalytic media prevents the formation of scale and eliminates existing scale by accelerating the transformation of the calcium and magnesium minerals into harmless “Nano” particles. As the nano particles flow through plumbing systems, they do not attach to pipes, fixtures, valves, or heating elements; the result is 99% scale prevention and removal!
Carbon Block Lead Removal
Advanced multimedia cartridges designed to reduce dissolved and particulate lead, chlorine taste and odor. The single tap cartridges can also reduce cysts, MTBE and certain volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), and combine powdered activated carbon (PAC) with a specially designed adsorbent medium for lead and mercury reduction.
Hexametaphosphate PCC Cartridges
Contain food grade hexametaphosphate that dissolves slowly in water to inhibit scale and rust build-up. This FDA grade cartridge forms a protective coating on metal surfaces, safeguarding against acidity/alkalinity, hardness, chloride and other factors which effect the corrosion of water equipment and pipes.
