Over the past few years, builders have been implementing a
process known as passive builder piping. Whereas this process ventilates your foundation to some
degree, a number of studies have shown this process to have unpredictable results.
If your home was build with passive piping or another
form of Radon Resistant Construction, it is not a guarantee that your home does not contain
unhealthy amounts of radon. A simple, inexpensive radon test will tell you whether or not you have a
radon problem.
So what do you do if you have a radon problem? Like any
other home with elevated levels of radon, you must install a radon mitigation system. When installed
properly, passive piping system is over half of the mitigation system already, leaving only a fan to
be installed.
